Results and fairness

How matches settle, which score counts, when picks lock, refunds, and how results stay verifiable.

Last updated: June 4, 2026

ScorePlay settles every prediction from the official match result, recorded onchain on Base so anyone can verify it. Outcomes are never decided by hand, and ScorePlay holds no position against you.

Which score counts

This is the rule that matters most in an exact-score game:

  • Predictions settle on the 90-minute result: the score at the end of regulation, including stoppage time.
  • Extra time and penalty shootouts do not change the recorded score. A match that is 1-1 after 90 minutes and decided on penalties settles as a 1-1 draw.
  • One exception, World Cup knockouts: the team that advances (including on penalties) counts as the winner for "who wins" markets, but the recorded scoreline is still the 90-minute score.

So when you call a scoreline, call where the match stands after 90 minutes.

How results are determined

  • An onchain oracle fetches the official match data once the match ends.
  • Settlement is automated: ScorePoints are awarded and any USDC pool is paid out from the recorded result.
  • Everything is verifiable on Base. Results are not set manually and cannot be edited after the fact.

When you can predict, and when it locks

  • You can submit or change your prediction any time before kickoff.
  • At kickoff the match locks and your prediction is final.

Refunds

A refund can be issued when a match cannot settle normally:

  • The match is cancelled before it starts.
  • The oracle fails or official data is unavailable.
  • A technical issue prevents the result from resolving.

If you entered the USDC pool, your entry is returned to your wallet automatically. Free play has no entry and no stake, so there is nothing to refund.

Fair play

  • One account per person. Manipulation and collusion are not allowed.
  • Results come from official match data, the same for everyone.
  • Leaderboards and any payouts follow the published rules.

Using the USDC pool safely

If you enter the pool, where the law allows:

  • Double-check the amount before you confirm.
  • Keep your wallet secure and never share your recovery phrase.
  • Start small while you learn.

Your money is at real risk in the pool. See Responsible play and the Risk disclosure.
