ScorePlay vs Traditional Prediction Markets
How ScorePlay differs from traditional prediction markets and betting: free-first, skill-based, knowledge over capital.
ScorePlay is a football knowledge competition that works differently from traditional prediction markets and betting. Here’s how.
Free-first vs pay-to-play
- ScorePlay: The main product is free. Vote on matches, earn ScorePoints, and compete on the leaderboard. See Getting Started.
- Traditional prediction markets: Usually require funds to participate; your stake is your entry ticket.
Knowledge over capital
- ScorePlay: Rankings are based on ScorePoints (SP), which you earn from correct predictions. Accuracy and consistency determine your rank. Capital (e.g. USDC) does not change your SP or position. See SP & economy.
- Traditional prediction markets: Often reward larger stakes or more capital at risk; leaderboards can reflect volume or size, not only accuracy.
Simple sign-in
- ScorePlay: Play the full game and rank at the top with Google sign-in. A wallet is only needed for optional USDC in regions where it’s offered.
- Traditional prediction markets / crypto: Typically require a connected wallet and funds to participate.
Skill-based competition
- ScorePlay: Positioned as a skill-based football knowledge competition. Correct votes earn SP; the leaderboard reflects who predicts best, not who stakes most.
- Betting / gambling: Often framed as luck or odds-based; regulation and positioning differ by jurisdiction.
Optional USDC layer
Where permitted by law, ScorePlay offers USDC Mode: you can add USDC to amplify rewards. Same SP rules and same leaderboard; USDC does not change your rank. In blocked regions, only Free Mode is shown. See How voting works and Risk disclosure.
